Set up your mailbox
Your wedding address works in a browser, and in the mail app you already use. Both of you sign in with the same address and the same password.
You choose that password from the one-time link we email after you pay. We never email the password itself. If you haven't opened that link yet, do that first, then come back here.
Start with webmail
The fastest way in is a browser. Nothing to install. This is Roundcube, the webmail for your mailbox.
- Open https://webmail.gettingmarried.email
- Username: your full address, such as
yournames@gettingmarried.email - Password: the mailbox password you chose
- Sign in
You can both use it, including on a phone. Mail stays on the server, so you see the same inbox.
Server settings
To use Apple Mail, Gmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, or another app, add an account with the settings below. The server name is the same for incoming and outgoing mail. Your username is always the full address, not just the part before the @.
- Incoming (IMAP)
mail.gettingmarried.emailPort 993 · SSL/TLS - Outgoing (SMTP)
mail.gettingmarried.emailPort 465 · SSL/TLS - Outgoing, if 465 will not connect
mail.gettingmarried.emailPort 587 · STARTTLS - POP3 (optional)
mail.gettingmarried.emailPort 995 · SSL/TLS
| Purpose | Server | Port | Security |
|---|---|---|---|
| Incoming (IMAP) | mail.gettingmarried.email | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | mail.gettingmarried.email | 465 | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing, if 465 will not connect | mail.gettingmarried.email | 587 | STARTTLS |
| POP3 (optional) | mail.gettingmarried.email | 995 | SSL/TLS |
Choose IMAP. It keeps the inbox in sync for both of you, on every device. POP3 downloads mail onto one device and can hide it from the other person, so use it only if you already know you want that.
Outgoing mail has to sign in. When the app asks, turn authentication on and use the same full address and the same password. A normal setup is IMAP on port 993 and SMTP on port 465, both with SSL/TLS.
Apple Mail
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings. Tap Apps, then Mail, then Mail Accounts, then Add Account. On older iOS the path is Settings, Mail, Accounts, Add Account.
- Tap Other, then Add Mail Account.
- Name: the name guests should see, such as Alex and Jamie. Email: your full wedding address. Password: your mailbox password. Description: Wedding, or anything you'll recognize.
- Tap Next, and leave IMAP selected.
- For both Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, set the host to
mail.gettingmarried.email, the user name to the full address, and the password to your mailbox password. - Tap Next, then Save.
If it won't connect, open the account, tap Account, then Advanced. Turn Use SSL on and set the incoming port to 993. Go back, open SMTP, and on that server turn Use SSL on, set the port to 465, and set authentication to Password.
Mac
- Open Mail. In the menu bar choose Mail, then Add Account.
- Choose Other Mail Account, then Continue.
- Enter your name, the full wedding address, and the mailbox password, then sign in.
- If Mail asks for the rest: account type IMAP, incoming and outgoing server
mail.gettingmarried.email, user name the full address.
Gmail app or Android
The Gmail app can hold this mailbox next to a regular Gmail account. Other Android mail apps ask for the same server, ports, and username.
- Open the Gmail app. Tap your profile picture, then Add another account, then Other.
- Type the full wedding address and continue. Choose Personal (IMAP) if it asks what kind of account this is.
- Enter the mailbox password.
- Incoming server:
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 993, security SSL/TLS. - Outgoing server:
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 465, security SSL/TLS. Turn on Require sign-in and enter the full address and the same password. - Finish. The wedding inbox shows up in the account switcher.
Outlook
- In Outlook for Windows, choose File, then Add Account. On a Mac, choose Tools, Accounts, then the plus button. In new Outlook, open Settings, then Accounts, then Add account.
- Enter the full wedding address and continue. If Outlook guesses and gets stuck, choose IMAP or Advanced setup.
- Incoming:
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 993, SSL/TLS. - Outgoing:
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 465, SSL/TLS. Turn on outgoing authentication and use the same full address and password. - The username is the full address. Save, then send yourselves a short note to confirm it leaves the outbox.
Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird. Choose the menu, then New, then Existing Email Account. Or open Account Settings, Account Actions, Add Mail Account.
- Your name, the full wedding address, and the mailbox password.
- Choose Configure manually. Automatic detection usually will not find this mailbox.
- Incoming: IMAP, server
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 993, SSL/TLS, authentication Normal password, username the full address. - Outgoing: SMTP, server
mail.gettingmarried.email, port 465, SSL/TLS, authentication Normal password, username the full address. - Done. Send a message to a personal address to confirm it sends.
If something goes wrong
Wrong password
The password is the one you chose on the setup link, not a password from your personal email, and not something we sent you. Retype the full address as the username. The part before the @ is not enough.
If you still have the unused link in the "Set up your password" email, open it and choose a password there. That link works once and expires after 7 days. If it has expired, or you set a password and then forgot it, email privacy@gettingmarried.email and we'll send a new one-time link. You pick a new password on that page, the same way as the first time.
SMTP authentication required
If sending fails, or the app says authentication is required, outgoing mail is trying to leave without signing in. Turn SMTP authentication on (some apps call it "outgoing server requires a password") and use the same full address and mailbox password. Prefer port 465 with SSL/TLS. If that port is blocked on your network, use port 587 with STARTTLS. Port 25 will not work.
Check spam
The receipt and the password link go to the personal address you used at checkout, and they sometimes land in spam or Promotions. Check there if the setup email hasn't arrived.
Mail that arrives at the wedding address can also be filed as junk. In webmail, open Junk and mark anything from your guests as not junk. If someone says they never got a reply you sent from the wedding address, ask them to check their spam folder too.
